About the Role

Performs accurate and timely assessments of medical underwriting cases within the authority limit and evaluates cases beyond the authority limit under supervisory guidance to support the achievement of the team’s operational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses daily incoming medical underwriting cases within authority limit accurately within the targeted TAT by applying underwriting guidelines, manuals, and medical standards consistently to ensure sound risk assessment and compliance
  • Review medical evidence and declarations to identify risk factors and determine appropriate underwriting decisions (e.g. standard, rating, exclusions, postponement, or decline)
  • Assesses daily incoming medical underwriting cases beyond authority limit accurately within the targeted TAT by escalating complex or borderline cases with clear recommendations to senior underwriters or medical consultant
  • Ensures underwriting decisions comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit standards
  • Timely issuance of underwriting letters via email / hardcopy after assessment
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records of underwriting assessments and decisions in the system
  • Provides underwriting support and clarification to distribution channels, customer service, and internal stakeholders
  • Participates in peer reviews and case discussions to ensure underwriting consistency
  • Responses to clients (internal/external) queries through email or phone within the targeted timeline 
  • Performs ad hoc duties and assignments to support underwriting operations
  • Involve in various UAT for system enhancements

Requirements:

  • Tertiary / University graduate with relevant academic background and/or experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in medical underwriting or related field
  • Strong medical underwriting knowledge
  • Customer‑oriented mindset with effective written and verbal communication skills
