What is the opportunity?

In this role with RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM), you will work within the Global Fixed Income and Currencies investment team as a Fixed Income analyst.

The role of Fixed Income Analyst is to assist in the management of fixed income portfolios. You will provide reporting and analytical support within GFIC with a focus on interest rate risk. In this role you will assist the team with day-to-day portfolio adjustments, portfolio construction and trading duties. This will include undertaking interest rate modelling and Canadian provincial/government agency bond research.

RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you be doing?

  • Fixed income analysis that will aid decisions in interest rate/credit risk allocation and comprehensive portfolio management.

  • Working alongside portfolio managers/traders and contribute to team meetings analyzing fixed income markets and portfolio risk positioning.

  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluating investments against evolving macroeconomic conditions to ensure alignment with established risk parameters (yield curve, cross-market, credit, liquidity, and relative value).

  • Supporting portfolio rebalancing efforts to maintain strategic objectives. Maintaining/Developing portfolio management reports.

  • Updating ESG framework to integrate into investment process.

  • Providing fixed income analytical research and support to peers across RBC Global Asset Management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to manage concurrent tasks and activities.

  • Positive attitude, ability to prioritize and be a team player. 

  • Proactive self-starter with a strong aptitude for independent learning.

  • CFA Charter holder or desire and demonstrated aptitude/background to pursue CFA designation.

  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a field of study that builds a strong background for finance/macro investing.

  • Proven computer skills including experience in Excel/VBA, Python/SQL, and Bloomberg.

  • Experience in investment industry in a similar role.

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

$67,000.00 - $110,000.00
