Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The London-based Global Banking team is the front office relationship management team covering UK headquartered clients and UK subsidiaries of multinational corporates. The Team is a high performing, integrated team where you will gain experience by performing a wide range of tasks, and gain to different client sectors and countries, giving you continuous learning and development opportunities. The business has grown significantly in recent years, the UK team currently has 60+ individuals, and the new hire will complement the existing team. The Global Banking Team’s main objective is to manage and support the bank’s SCIB client base in connection with all Santander global banking products. The team is complemented by local relationship teams in all of Santander’s international locations.

The role supports a portfolio of Energy clients, with a broad exposure to business across the UK, Latin America, Asia and Europe. As an Analyst in the Energy team, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation of Business Plans, coordinating with the Client Lifecycle Management team in carrying out KYC processes, preparing credit committee papers, arranging meetings with clients, preparing client materials & business opportunities analysis, as well as portfolio management for the sector.


The difference you’ll make:

  • Contributing to overall client satisfaction and revenue targets by supporting the Global Banking Team, the Head of Global Banking UK and Global Head of Multinationals as required

  • Helping generate business ideas to drive revenue, returns on capital, and growth

  • Producing client-facing documents and pitch books, working on deals in conjunction with senior stakeholders across the full suite of SCIB products

  • Developing a thorough understanding of clients and their individual needs through face-to-face interaction with clients

  • Supporting the execution of client assignments, ensuring deliverables are made with high quality standards and strong attention to detail

  • Budget preparation for the Global Banking team (as part of BAU assignments), working with Product Groups and Countries, and on-going Pipeline updates

  • Preparing business plans in conjunction with credit proposals

  • Monitoring credit risk and capital consumption of clients

  • Monitoring any other risks and report through the appropriate channels with particular focus on operational and conduct risk

  • Guiding Client Management Services (CMS) teams to ensure completion of all KYC forms in a timely manner for onboarding and refresh purposes

  • Helping CMS obtain relevant documentation when such information is not publicly available prior to transaction execution

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Broad experience of the main product areas of SCIB: Corporate Finance, GTB, FS&A, RSG and DCM

  • Ability to develop logical and well-reasoned arguments to influence and motivate others

  • Strong analytical, numerical and modelling skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity

  • High levels of attention to detail, diligence and conscientiousness, ensuring quality of client deliverables

  • Self-motivated, tenacious and able to work with high degree of independence

  • Excellent technology skills with superior Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, and ability to quickly learn new software applications

  • Creativity, problem solving skills, flexibility in approach and the ability to work with members of multiple product groups at the same time

  • Ability to analyse complex client financial objectives

  • Strong organizational skills

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or other languages

  • A Degree (or equivalent), preferably in a numerical discipline such as Economics or Finance

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.
