Challenger Investment Management (Challenger IM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Challenger Limited, is an alternative investment manager with a strong pedigree in global developed credit markets.

Challenger Investment Management Fixed Income (CIM FI) is an experienced institutional manager with a strong track record managing a diverse fixed income portfolio, with funds under management of approx. $16.4 billion as at 30 June 2025 across a global opportunity set in public and private credit markets.

As demand for Global ABS debt investments continues to grow, Challenger’s ABS investment team is seeking an Analyst to join its London office. London based team members can typically spend two to four weeks per annum working in Challenger’s Sydney office.

This role will be an integral part of the CIM FI team, as part of the team responsible for the management of the European and US securitised credit portfolio. The Analyst will focus on new investment analysis, position monitoring, and sector updates, while benefiting from strong support for career development and skill growth within the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present high-quality investment analysis and reviews to key stakeholders, drawing on thorough issuer due diligence, structural analysis, portfolio data review and cashflow modelling
  • Actively participate in investment strategy discussions, portfolio construction meetings and broader investment team forums
  • Support the ongoing portfolio monitoring process, including position reviews and recommendations
  • Conduct research into new sectors and investment strategies
  • Enhance, develop and maintain robust quantitative and qualitative investment processes, procedures and policy documentation
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Operations, Middle and Back Office, Finance, Legal, Risk and Group Credit

Skills and experience required: 

  • 1–3 years’ experience in financial markets, with exposure to securitised credit and/or fixed income markets an advantage
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of fixed income and global securitised credit markets, with a willingness to build product knowledge across different structures and issuance types
  • Developing quantitative skills, with the ability to work with large datasets, build cashflow models and perform scenario and risk analysis
  • Technical skills such as advanced Excel required; experience with programming languages (SQL, VBA, Python) is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong quantitative skills - ability to build cashflow models and run robust scenario analysis, ability to work with large data sets
  • Proactive, motivated individual with a strong desire to learn and take on responsibility
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
