SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Analyst, Financial Planning plays a key role in the analysis, forecasting and reporting for the Corporation's business plan, budget development, rate setting and forecasting processes. The Analyst works extensively with the complex financial models employed in Financial Planning and plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of those models and the data contained in them.

Budget & Business Plan Development
Provide financial analysis and modeling for the budget and business plan development process.
Undertake complex calculations and non-routine analysis for the development of the Manpower, operating and capital budgets.
Provide financial advice and support to business units throughout the Corporation and work with those business units in the development of the Corporation's budget and business plan.
Financial Modeling
Develop and proactively maintain the financial models employed in Financial Planning to ensure their continued accuracy relative to the methodology employed by Corporate and Utilities Accounting.
Facilitate the rate setting process by creating and maintaining Financial Planning's complex financial models to ensure accurate projections of future financial results based on highly technical financial and rate setting concepts.
Analytical Support
Analyze data from the financial models employed in Financial Planning related to operating, maintenance and administrative expenses as well as capital expenditures. Exercise judgment to "test for reasonableness" of the output from Khalix and the models used in Financial Planning.
Analyze data from the Corporate Accounting system related to revenues, expenses, capital expenditures, customer capital contributions, gas in storage inventory, asset disposals and Cost of Gas for the purposes of analysis of actual to budgeted results.
Employ complex analysis techniques related to the cost of service model for regulatory reporting and rate setting purposes.
Respond to requests for technical financial information from/for external parties such as the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel.
Prepare quarterly reports (including variance analysis and explanations) to the owner (Crown Investments Corporation) as well as borrowing and debt forecasts as required by CIC and the Ministry of Finance.
Work with Corporate business units to acquire variance explanations relative to budget and business plan targets.
Other Research and Documentation
Conduct research as required related to industry comparisons and various business development projects.
Investigate and provide input for recommendations related to process improvements and performance measurement benchmarks.
Implement process/system changes resulting from business and financial reporting policy changes.
Support the Corporate Project Management Office in compiling, researching, and processing project change requests and new project set up as well as other duties as assigned.
Education
Degree in Business Administration or Commerce (Accounting or Finance major).
Experience
Three (3) years analytical experience in the areas of budgeting/forecasting or accounting.
