AMS - 2025 - Data Center Engineer

We are a small and dynamic international team of engineers and technologists responsible for the management and operations of our European Trading Infrastructure.

We are currently looking for a hands-on Data Center Engineer to join our team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate is an early to mid-career level System- or Data Center Engineer, with good working knowledge in the fields of IT hardware and data center technologies. Knowledge of systems and network administration is a plus.

As part of the Trading Infrastructure Team, you will work closely with our System and Network Engineers and business support teams based in Amsterdam. You will be in regular contact with our colocation hosting partners and hardware vendors. The position requires frequent travels and out-of-hours work in our European colocation facilities.

Your core responsibilities

• Support the lifecycle process of our physical server, network and other IT infrastructure components;
• Physical installation and maintenance of server and network components in our data centers;
• Design rack layouts and patching schedules;
• Troubleshoot hardware faults and coordinate the RMA process with suppliers;
• Handling of incoming and outgoing shipments and deliveries;
• Manage physical and administrative aspects of hardware inventory and component stock levels;
• Create and maintain technical documentation of our physical infrastructure and related processes;
• Liaise with data center remote hands support;
• Ensure good working relationship with hardware vendors and hosting partners;
• Frequent travel (up to 50%) and flexible working hours, including work outside of core business hours and during weekends/holidays

Your skills and experience

• 5+ year hands-on experience in the area of data center engineering or technical field support;
• Good understanding of server, data storage and network hardware;
• Knowledge of network cabling, optical transceivers types;
• Working experience in data center environments (racking, cabling);
• Basic knowledge of operating systems and networking (LPI1, CCNA is a plus);
• Basic scripting skills (python, bash)
• Excellent time management with great sense of urgency and ability to prioritize;
• Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment with minimal direct supervision;
• Demonstrated talent for solving problems proactively and creatively, result oriented;
• High degree of flexibility and adaptability – must feel comfortable in a dynamic working environment;
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 25kg and to work in elevated locations;
• Valid driving license.
