We are seeking a Specialist, Risk Management to join our Enterprise Risk Management department. The successful candidate will steer the development and continuous improvement of risk reporting activities and ETRM initiatives. This role will support the Senior Manager, Market Risk by surfacing insights into commodity risk management activities through comprehensive knowledge of market risk reporting, enhancing day-to-day operating practices, and acting as a key liaison with Front-office and Back-office personnel across the organization.
Tasks and Responsibilities
· Monitor transaction activity to uphold commodity risk governance and work collaboratively with various teams (commercial, operations, finance, treasury, IT, audit) to resolve discrepancies
· Enhance and perform AltaGas’ Commodity Risk Management processes, including developing and running daily risk reports and preparing presentation materials
· Prepare and review analysis around P&L, exposure, and GMaR; from time-to-time present or provide guidance for group deliverables
· Proactively lead initiatives to enhance data, champion standardization and automation of processes, as well as develop sophisticated decision support tools
· Advocate for Market Risk while developing strong relationships with commercial teams and treasury to advance new opportunities and strategic initiatives; providing guidance with respect to exposures, impacts on key risk measures, and accomplishing book objectives
· Demonstrate a high degree of risk subject matter expertise to co-ordinate Market Risk initiatives, offer recommendations, and perform ad-hoc analysis for other business areas
· Develop and mentor the team, sharing best practices and exercising informal people leadership
· Key stakeholder and SME for Allegro ETRM implementations, initiatives, and enhancement opportunities
· Leverage ETRM and Data Warehouse systems to develop and maintain quantitative risk models that report exposure, position, and P&L
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
· Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in energy sector, with direct exposure to middle office and/or trading roles
· Strong understanding of deal life cycle and energy commodity markets, particularly NGL and Crude Oil
· Expertise in market risk modeling techniques including option models, volatility measures, GMaR, back-testing, and stress scenarios
· Advanced proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools such as Power BI
· Experience presenting risk insights to varying levels of audience across functional areas is an asset
· Familiarity with ETRM systems—experience with Allegro Horizon is a strong asset
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL is highly desirable
· Experience in credit risk is considered an asset for cross-functional insights
