Airplane Systems Senior Engineering Manager

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) division is seeking an Airplane Systems Senior Engineering Manager in support of International E-7 and AWACS programs in Oklahoma City, OK.

The E-7 is the Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) program supporting new development and sustainment activities for our international customers. The Airborne Early Warning and Control (AWACS) program focuses on sustainment and modification support of the domestic and international fleet. The Airplane Systems Team has responsibilities spanning Mechanical Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Fuel (Aerial Refueling), Oxygen & Hydraulics, and Electrical Systems (Generation and Distribution).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the procurement, technical subcontract management, development, integration, testing, and certification of Airplane Systems in support of E-7 and AWACS program objectives.
  • Develops and executes plans in accordance with organizational processes and procedures.
  • Develops estimates to support contract proposal activities.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance.
  • Supports the Airplane Systems Capability to improve productivity, define design practices, monitor engineering metrics, lead innovation, and maintain a skilled workforce and the tools necessary to meet program objectives.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 7+ years of experience with Mechanical or Electronic systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion.

  • Strong natural leadership style that moves people to act, motivates, and inspires excellence and innovation.
  • Ability to build a psychologically safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with senior leaders externally and internally and maintain a global perspective.
  • Mechanical and/or electronic sub-systems experience on development programs, and introduction of technology into production and across the value stream.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and ability to lead without authority.
  • Analytical, design concepts knowledge, experience influencing others, process management, project leadership, and risk management experience.
  • Ability to adjust staff and priorities on an as-needed basis (with feedback from program and site leadership).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Chief Engineers and Program Managers.
  • Experience with FAA and Military Certification.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $153,000 - $207,000
