Job Description:
As the Cryoprop Propulsion Architect (m/f), you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems for aircraft application. It will be composed of a superconducting DC network with protections, a cryogenic motor drive, a superconducting electric motor and a cryogenic cooling system developed in a dynamic and emulating environment with worldwide partners including multiple research institutes, start-ups or larger industrial groups.
You will have to be integrated in a team composed of experts in power electronics, motor, distribution, control and cryogenic cooling in order to develop a portfolio of propulsion equipment from R&D, modeling, prototyping and tests.
You are passionate about aeronautics, sciences and technologies, have a strong technical background and like to make and test yourself breakthrough technologies on concrete demonstrations. You like difficult challenges and are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.
This job is based in Toulouse ( Saint Martin) and it comes with a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date end of December 2026). Starting date ASAP.
Responsibilities:
You will be in charge of:
Lead Power Plant Systems activities. For this perimeter:
Propose and develop concepts
Lead feasibility of different propulsion system architecture trade studies
Develop learning strategy and following-up learnings capitalization
Drive Modelling & Simulation strategy
Manage key technical risks at multi system level (safety, operations, thermal, integration…)
Breaking-down the needs/requirements (V&V) coming from the aircraft architecture to feed the equipment development team and supporting TRL dossiers of each powertrain’s component/equipment.
Acting as primary interface between the equipment development team and the lead architect
Acting as primary interface between the ZEROe architect teams and the lead architect
Contributing to the main project development milestones: development plan, spec, PDR, CDR, equipment & system TRLs, trade Gates
Reporting status to CRYOPROP aircraft architect
Your boarding pass
Aerospace engineering degree or similar
Experience in engineering needed (General Propulsion system, engine performance, Safety & certification), capability and willingness to understand technical topics at high level
Experience in project / programme management and/or willingness to develop this experience
Proven experience in managing development projects and complex system trade-offs in aerospace
Proven leadership experience of international multidisciplinary team
Ability to manage TRL reviews internally and with partners
Well-built professional network including industrial players, research institutes, consultants, entrepreneurs
Good team spirit and communication skills
Positive and forward thinking; influencing & leadership skills
High level of autonomy and flexibility
Analytical mind-set and strong synthesis capacity
