Do you have a passion for data and are adept at communicating it to others?
As the Air Quality Communications Systems Analyst, you will serve as a valuable resource and a critical member of a large and diverse team committed to improving and protecting Maricopa County’s air quality. The position focuses on providing professional-level research, analysis, and implementation of technology enhancements within the division in coordination with other county departments and vendors. In this role, you will utilize a variety of skills and technology to provide the vital link between the production of air quality data and its dissemination to our internal and external customers. Your work will contribute to the department’s mission of improving the air of Maricopa County so customers, residents, and visitors can live, work, and play in a healthy environment.

We Require
Two years of professional analytical experience, which includes working with database systems, including data acquisition, evaluation, and system analysis
Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, communications, computer science, natural sciences, or a relevant field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire
We Also Value
Two years of experience in air quality or air monitoring
Experience setting up data communication equipment (i.e., routers, modems, Modbus communication)
Experience in maintaining a cloud-based server using Microsoft SQL Server
Advanced skills and experience using computer applications, including database management, data acquisition, and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel to develop reports, charts, and analyses of data
Experience working with federal air monitoring rules, regulations, and policies
Experience working with state, local, and federal agencies
Job Contributions
Update and maintain the division’s communication technologies, including communication with instruments, databases, websites, and outreach kiosks
Create and update documentation relating to the division's maintenance of the AirVision Database, IMPACT Database, and outreach kiosks
Research, develop, and recommend improvements of all division technology resource needs
Research, document, and monitor procedural and workflow plans
Operate a vehicle to install, maintain, or repair modems, kiosks, and computers
Prepare technical reports and project summaries for distribution to stakeholders
Working Conditions
The work will occur in an office and field environment for this role
While performing the duties & responsibilities in the field environment, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. May be subjected to vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises while working in the field
Protective Equipment is required when working in the field (i.e., Safety boots, earplugs, dust masks, safety glasses, hard hat)
Must be able to lift up to 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Ability to move objects up to 25 pounds, lifting floor-to-waist, and pushing/ pulling up to 25 pounds
The position may require travel during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used in County business
