Position details
As a VP, AI Platform Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced AI infrastructure and services that power enterprise scale ML and Gen AI capabilities. You will be a partner with data engineers, platform developers and AI data scientists to build secure, scalable and compliant AI platforms that accelerate business innovation for MUFG. This role serves as the principal AI architect and hands on technical leadership
Roles and Responsibilities
- Platform Architecture: Design and evolve the AI platform’s core architecture covering model lifecycle management, orchestration, APIs, and observability on AWS cloud
- Technical Leadership: Translate strategic objectives into technical roadmaps; guide senior to mid level developers through design reviews, coding standards and system optimization
- LLM operations: Define and implement best practices for LLMOps pipelines, including model deployment, fine tuning, evaluation and cost tracking
- Integration Engineering: Architect integration solutions between data platforms, governance systems, and AI services ensuring compliance with security and regulatory controls.
- Performance and Reliability: Benchmark and tune infrastructure for high throughput, low latency and efficient model inferences
- Collaboration: Work closely with Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Info Sec to align architecture choices with business goals
- Documentation and knowledge sharing: Maintain architectural standards, templates and reusable components to drive consistency across teams.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8-9 years in software, platform engineering with at least 3+ years in designing or supporting AI/ML systems
- Proven success in architecting and delivering AI platforms at scale (AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Databricks, Domino or equivalent)
- Strong in Python, API design, IaaC and Containerization (ECR, ECS or Kubernetes)
- Deep understanding of LLM Architecture, Agentic workflows, vector databases and retrieval pipelines
- Exposure to Responsible AI principles, data governance and model risk management in regulated industry
- Strong communication, stakeholder influence and mentoring capabilities
- Ability to bridge technical depth and business context
- Familiarity with Observability stack (Promethus, Grafana), embedding stores, and MLOps tools like MLFlow or KubeFlow
