We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

The Role

Accelerate your career by joining Okta as our AI Operations Lead. In this mission-critical individual contributor role, you will serve as the central source of truth for all AI flows—both internal and product-facing—across the company. You will be the map-maker for our AI ecosystem, ensuring that as we innovate at the speed of SaaS, we maintain a clear, documented, and compliant understanding of what data fuels our AI and how it is used.

This is a high-autonomy role designed for a proactive operator who can navigate complex issues and build cross-functional bridges in a remote-first environment. You will report into the Sr. Director, AI Legal and work closely with Legal, Engineering, Privacy, and Security stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

  • The Enterprise AI Command Center: Establish and oversee the enterprise-wide AI Asset Library, serving as the definitive, central source of truth for all models, internal workflows, and third-party integrations.
  • Revenue Acceleration & Path Clearing: Act as a strategic liaison between Legal, Engineering, and Sales to build cross-functional bridges that turn complex hurdles into competitive advantages, directly accelerating our market growth.
  • Data Provenance & Lineage Architecture: Map and document the entire lifecycle of data, from source origins to final usage, ensuring every AI output is explainable, audit-ready, and legally sound.
  • Operationalizing Ethics at Scale: Design and execute high-velocity operational workflows (AIIAs and Model Cards) to assess privacy, ethical, and legal risks, ensuring we reach production with speed and safety.
  • Strategic Vendor Gatekeeper: Maintain and evolve procurement processes to ensure every new AI tool meets our internal trust standards before it is integrated into our ecosystem.
  • Rigorous Third-Party Auditing: Conduct deep-dive operational audits of vendor AI capabilities, evaluating data retention and opt-out mechanisms to protect our most valuable company and customer data.
  • Policy-to-Playbook Transformation: Translate high-level governance into actionable, high-performance playbooks, ensuring compliance is built into our daily operations rather than treated as an afterthought.
  • Global Content Curation: Independently lead the effort to ensure our AI messaging remains consistent, clear, and authoritative both internally and for our global customer base.
  • Remote-First Internal Diplomacy: Expertly navigate complex stakeholder interests across our global organization to ensure AI initiatives move forward at pace without compromising security.
  • Critical Incident Response Leadership: Provide the essential data maps and asset intelligence needed by Legal and Security to resolve potential incidents with precision and speed.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • AI Fluency & Technical Intuition: You are an AI-first thinker. You have a practical understanding of how LLMs and Generative AI tools function. You aren’t intimidated by the black box of AI; instead, you are driven to document its boundaries and ensure its outputs are reliable and compliant.
  • 5+ years of experience in Operations, Privacy Ops, or Program Management within a fast-paced SaaS technology company.
  • Expert Knowledge of SaaS Ecosystems: You understand cloud architecture, APIs, and the nuances of how data moves in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Privacy-First Mindset: Significant experience with privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and a deep understanding of why data residency and usage rights are critical in the AI era.
  • Masterful Communication: Ability to navigate internal politics with grace, building consensus across diverse teams (from DevOps to Legal) without formal authority.
  • High Autonomy: Proven track record of thriving in a remote-first environment with little oversight; you are a self-starter who creates their own runbook.
  • Agility in Ambiguity: You are comfortable working in the gray space. As AI standards and regulations evolve daily, you provide the steady hand and structured framework necessary to turn uncertainty into a competitive advantage. You build the foundational systems that allow our teams to move at high velocity without hitting regulatory or operational deadlocks.
  • Grit and Emotional Intelligence: A team-oriented professional with a sense of humor who can stay calm while managing high-stakes projects.
