JOB TITLE: AI Engineering Manager - Tech and Tooling
SALARY: £84,051 - £93,390
LOCATION(S): Halifax, Edinburgh, Leeds, Newport
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to join the newly established Markets & AI Modelling team within the Model Risk Office [MRO] at Lloyds Banking Group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and constantly evolving AI team, providing considerable scope for personal and professional development.
MRO will act as the front door for the business to advance their AI ambitions, requiring excellent collaboration with our CCOR teams (e.g., Data Risks, Cyber and Security, Supplier Management, Conduct).
You’ll join a dedicated team responsible for the development, implementation, and support of AI/GenAI tooling to enable scalable, efficient, and reliable validation and risk oversight.
What you’ll be doing:
Lead the technical delivery of GenAI validation tooling, including planning development sprints, breaking down product requirements into technical tasks, and coordinating development work.
Design and develop reusable platform components and frameworks for GenAI validation, testing, and monitoring.
Build prototype pipelines and evaluation frameworks to support testing and validation of GenAI models across multiple use cases.
Act as the lead developer for selected projects, delivering end-to-end solutions from architecture design through implementation.
Review code and guide developers to ensure engineering quality and consistency across the tooling platform.
Collaborate with validation and risk oversight teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and platform capabilities.
Monitor emerging technologies (e.g., LLMOps tooling, RAG pipelines, agent frameworks) to continuously improve the validation tooling environment.

What we’re looking for:
·3+ years of professional experience developing or validating AI/ML or GenAI systems in a production or regulated environment.
·A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
·Strong Python programming experience building data or AI applications.
·Experience developing GenAI systems using LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, or similar).
Experience working with LLM APIs and orchestration frameworks.
·Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
Experience building RAG pipelines or agent-based AI systems.
Familiarity with cloud AI platforms such as GCP Vertex AI or similar.
Experience developing backend services or APIs for AI or data applications.
Experience building user interfaces or dashboards for AI or data applications.
Experience working in regulated environments or familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as EU AI Act, GDPR, or SS1/23.
