About the program
The Working in Science Internship Program is designed for last year's students and recent graduates who want to apply what they’ve learned in a real, global biotechnology environment. You’ll contribute to meaningful projects, gain mentorship, and develop skills that set you up for future success.

Our Clinical & Collaborations Finance team partners with R&D and Business Development to plan, track, and optimize the financials of clinical trials and external partnerships. We forecast and manage budgets, oversee accruals and study spend, and ensure accurate payments and settlements with third‑party collaborators. We provide data-driven insights on cost drivers and portfolio trends, ensure compliance with policies and contracts, and support decision-making to deliver trials efficiently and steward collaboration economics.


General requirements:

  • Education: Pursuing a bachelor’s/master’s in computer science, data science, engineering, information systems, or related field.
  • Programming & Data: Basic Python (pandas, scikit-learn) or R; SQL; data modeling and visualization fundamentals.
  • AI/ML Foundations: Understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, and prompt engineering.
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Exposure to Power BI (DAX, Power Query), plus interest/experience with Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Cloud & Tools: Familiarity with Azure basics, Git/version control, and Microsoft 365; ability to document and communicate clearly.

Required skills:

  • Power Platform: Interest in Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and willingness to learn quickly.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear communicator, good documentation, and teamwork with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Mindset & Compliance: Proactive, growth-oriented, and mindful of data privacy, security, and responsible AI.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to break down ambiguous problems and propose structured approaches.
  • Technical Curiosity: Growth-oriented attitude, eagerness to experiment, learn new tools, and adopt best practices in AI and citizen development.

Key details

  • Eligibility: Final year students and recent graduates. Please review the specific requirements for each role.
  • Duration: 3 months, starting in July.
  • Working model: Hybrid, with partial on‑site presence.
  • Selection process: Application review against objective criteria, HireVue video responses, then a remote meeting with the recruiting team.
  • Timeline: Apply by 21 March 2026. Results by mid-April.

  • Completion of the internship does not guarantee contract extension or further employment at AstraZeneca. Future opportunities may be advertised separately and require a new application.
