Summary
The Instructor is responsible for effectively delivering classroom and field training to new and current technicians. This position plans, coordinates, tracks, and delivers new hire training. Additionally, this role assists existing technicians by conducting training, ride-alongs, and other development tactics aimed at improving performance. A successful candidate will be someone with strong locating experience that has a passion for teaching others. This candidate will have exceptional time management skills and the ability to quickly adjust to changing circumstances. This candidate should embody professionalism and have a strong track record as a positive role model.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model and lead by example
- Planning and executing new hire training which includes scheduling, classroom setup, conducting training, field trainer mentoring and coaching, and detailed documentation
- Assists existing technicians in need by conducting training, ride-alongs, and other development tactics aimed at improving performance
- Manage the LMS ensuring appropriate training assignment, access, and accurate record keeping of training completion
- Developing and executing emergency response training
- Build relationships with field leadership within assigned district to proactively anticipate training and development needs
- Implement best practices to drive safety, quality, and training improvements
- Assisting the EHS department by providing with training metrics and information when relevant
- Assisting EHS incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action planning
- Support quality field audits and participate in quality teams as needed
- Leading customer specific compliance processes such as Safety and Gas Operator Qualification
- Providing tactical support for start-up initiatives
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required, higher education preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Prior experience in the locating industry, safety/EHS, quality, or training
- Must have currently attained rank of Technician 4 or higher.
- Driver and Quality scores of 8 or higher required.
- Ability to travel 25% (up to 50% during peak training season)
- Proficiency in MS Office – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, & Word
