Job Description:

The Retail Wealth Enablement, Operations and Transition department plays a pivotal role in our organization’s strategic expansion into a new Investment Dealer.  Our dedicated team under the leadership of the AVP, Operations and Transition, is responsible for not only initiating and nurturing the wealth management segment but also ensuring operational excellence with a keen focus on first time-right process design.  We place strong emphasis on partner servicing, aligning with internal and external stakeholders, and driving process optimization to create efficient, cost-effective operations that meet both current and future scalability requirements.  The Advisor transition team, specifically, is critical to our mission by ensuring frictionless, high-quality onboarding experience for new advisors. This role is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days/week minimum.

Note: Travel will be required within Canada for this role.

The Advisor Transition Specialist is a senior execution-focused role, responsible for managing the meticulous day-to-day activities involved in transitioning new investment advisors and their client portfolios.  This role is a vital link, requiring high-touch communication with advisors, detailed operational analysis, and collaboration across the firm to ensure a smooth, compliant, and efficient experience for the incoming advisors and their clients.

What will you do?

  • Advisor Case Management: Manage the end-to-end account and asset transition lifecycle for a portfolio of assigned advisor transitions.

  • Transition Execution: Play a lead role in operational processing specific transitions, including client account opening, transfer documents, fee setups, and reconciling asset transfers.

  • Advisor Training & Support: Conduct personalized or group training sessions for new advisors on the firm’s operational platforms, processes and service model.

  • Issue Resolution Specialist: Take ownership of troubleshooting and resolving complex transition-related operational and compliance issues with internal teams and external providers.

  • Quality & Data Integrity: Maintain first-time-right accuracy in all data, documentation, and compliance filings for advisor transitions.

  • Partner Servicing (Execution Level): Maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners and the Carrying Broker to expedite transition steps.

  • Operational Support: Support the Transition Manager and AVP by providing ground-level insights into process efficacy.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in Wealth Management with deep knowledge of Operations, Mid Office, and Front Office functions.

  • Prior experience with asset transfer processes, advisor onboarding, and account setups.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and progress towards CFA designation are assets.

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
