Job Summary

The advisor, student success supports undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students through proactive academic planning, mentorship, and ongoing communication. This role guides students from enrollment through program completion while collaborating closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure a high-quality advising experience. The advisor also contributes to college events, student engagement initiatives, and front-facing office operations.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Advises undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students
  • Acts as a coach and mentor for students throughout their program
  • Provides student support through academic planning, communication, and outreach, including offering resources and tools for success
  • Provides timely and regular feedback to students, answers program-related questions, maintains consistent communication, and works with each student on their program plan of study and career goals
  • Coaches and supports students from enrollment through completion, advising them on educational plans and assisting with the registration process
  • Consults with students each term to plan future enrollment and review or revise long-range academic program schedules
  • Assists students in completing academic and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals, as needed
  • Meets on campus with prospective students as requested by Admissions or Athletics

Service Excellence

  • Shares front-facing office duties, including meeting with students, answering questions, and responding to inquiries
  • Serves as the advisor for the COEHS Student Advisory Council
  • Assists in organizing and participating in college special events such as orientation, training sessions, and information sessions
  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values

Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Responds to the needs of students and colleagues in a timely and courteous manner
  • Engages collaboratively with colleagues and students
  • Serves as a liaison between Lindenwood University (LU) Professional Advising and the COEHS faculty and staff

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant job experience in advising is preferred
