Overview:
Sentara Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient team in South Boston, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a provider who values a collaborative, patient-centered approach and wants to make a meaningful impact on individuals struggling with behavioral health challenges.
Position Details:
- Location: South Boston, VA
- Patient Volume: Approximately 35–40 patients per week
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | No on-call requirements
Patient Population:
- Substance and alcohol use disorders, Depression and anxiety, Grief and loss, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, PMDD, Schizophrenia, etc.
Team Composition:
- 2 Physicians
- 1 Licensed Professional Counselor
- 2 Support Staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outpatient behavioral health visits and follow-ups
- Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate
- Provide counseling and therapy when indicated
- Collaborate closely with physicians on patient care
- Monitor and track patient progress, ensuring individualized, effective treatment plans
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health
- Proven ability to provide both medication management and counseling
- Experience in evaluating and determining the most effective treatment approach for patients, whether through medication, therapy, or a combination of both
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
