Responsibilities:
The role of the Admissions Counselor is integral in the recruitment/engagement and enrollment of prospective BSN and graduate nursing students. The Admissions Counselor is the first resource of the admissions team to evaluate a student’s level of preparedness and competitiveness for the program. Effective management of this inquiry/prospective student pool is critical in converting interest into actionable application for admission. The Admissions Counselor engages in activities to recruit, admit and enroll highly academically qualified students with primary focus on the undergraduate program and accountability for a particular geographic territory, under indirect supervision of the Assistant Director and Director of Admissions. This position is expected to implement recruitment activities at colleges, hospitals, and conferences, manage appointments with students and families, and implement campus events along with the nursing admissions team this includes virtual aspects of recruitment. Under the supervision and oversight of the Director and Assistant Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for data management processes (not limited to design, implementation, and ongoing management) associated with the admission CRM. The Admissions Counselor also supports the supervision of the traditional BSN student ambassadors and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Duties include:
Assist with nursing recruitment leads for primarily the traditional BSN track through advisement appointments and travel to colleges, hospitals, and professional conferences, as well as virtual sessions
Collaborate effectively with all team members, including internal and external constituents, to optimize effective processing of inquiries and applications, with particular emphasis on meeting target goals for areas of recruitment
Commit to ongoing training to optimize utilization of CRM platform within the Admissions department
Comprehensively evaluate nursing applications for the undergraduate tracks and advise students regarding transfer courses needed to meet the requirements for the BSN. Evidence thorough knowledge about the nursing curricula and admission criteria, as well as transferability of courses from outside colleges and universities
Maintain ongoing support of the department and supervisors in management of the enrollment process for undergraduate students in recruitment areas
Support planning and implementation of all aspects of information sessions, conferences, professional recruitment fairs, and campus tours
Communicate and engage in ongoing correspondence with students, while also maintaining attendee lists and coordinating entry of leads into Anthology; aggregate data after events for analysis
Oversee and support ambassadors participating in the traditional BSN support sessions to ensure congruence with University standards and expectations
Utilize support staff effectively to increase leads, applications, and conversion to enrollment providing supportive coaching as needed when projects are assigned to other persons, such as student employees
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required. Additionally, candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.

Polished presentation/public speaking skills, fine-tuned organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to conduct interviews and presentations to prospective students and their families.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written abilities that positively reflect upon Mercer University with diverse populations, which are vital to the success of this position.
Ability to meet and exceed set goals.
Availability to travel to event locations (sometimes driving long distances requiring overnight stays) during early morning, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
Capability to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Demonstrates strong ethics, motivation, and a commitment to excellence, and is capable of working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative and cohesive team.
