An Administrative Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Criminal Investigations Support Unit. The Criminal Investigation Support Division provides specialized operational and administrative support to the Fort Worth Police Department. The division oversees the Youth and School Resource, Commercial Auto Theft, Digital Forensics, Jail Operations, and Crime Scene Search units, which work collaboratively to assist investigative and field operations citywide. These units enhance case support, evidence processing, and services to victims and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Medical Management, Business Administration, Medical Office Administration or a related field
  • Two (2) years of clerical and administrative experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), PeopleSoft and Adobe Acrobat Sign
  • Experience with sworn civil service employees and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Extensive telephone and public contact customer service skills

The Administrative Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Digitize paperwork including inter-office correspondence, vacancy packets, purchasing authorization form, and other records to be archived
  • Maintain records and purchasing for jail operations including ordering of supplies, paying contracts, obtaining quotes, and general clerical paperwork within the jail unit
  • Maintain records and purchasing for crime scene search unit including ordering of supplies, paying contracts, obtaining quotes, and general clerical paperwork within the crime scene search unit
  • Receives and applies payments and fees. Compiles fiscal, statistical and related program reports. Calculates financial data, balances books, updates accounts and provides program expenditures and available balances. Updates and inputs records and documents and maintains files
  • Renews department licenses, certificates, permits and other required documentation
  • Participates in special projects, providing input as needed
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Provides staff support to an assigned department. Serves as back up for various staff positions as needed

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
