Please note that the schedule for this role will be Saturday - Wednesday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

The Office of the Medical Examiner is a county agency charged under Arizona law to perform medical investigations of certain types of deaths. The goal of these investigations is to determine the medical cause and manner of death to help improve public health and safety. We Require
Two years of experience performing clerical and/or administrative duties in an office environment, including some experience entering information into a medical or case record system
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
We Also Value
Experience in a Medical Examiner or Coroner’s Office or a legal, healthcare, or public-health setting
Expertise in Microsoft Office and transcription experience
Experience reviewing medical records or casework for accuracy
Experience in maintaining billing records and/or invoicing
Receive, process, and perform quality assurance reviews of initial dictation reports, including, but not limited to, Medical Examiner reports, toxicology reports, and microscopic examinations.
Format, edit, and amend dictation reports at the direction of the Medical Examiners
Serve as a point of contact for the transcription service vendor, sending dictations and information from the case management system
Perform case management system audits to ensure requested documents, including medical records and hospital records, have been received
Review and update the case management system (CME)
Initiate and amend death certificates in the State’s Vital Statistic Information Management System (DAVE) by entering appropriate data onto the death certificate template, reviewing and correcting previously entered information if necessary; produce the death certificate and obtain the Medical Examiner's signature
Process expedited case requests for dictation and case closure
Organize and file paperwork into department case files and archive for long-term storage
Scan, index, and perform quality review of documents entered into the OnBase System
Enter cremation authorization and body bag fees into the billing system
Review and maintain billing records and prepare monthly invoices to funeral homes for cremation authorization, body bag, and administration fees
Office environment with the ability to work with confidential information and/or graphic material.
