Administration Assistant (Finance) 
Full-Time | 38 Hours Per Week 
Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:06pm 

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 2. 

The Brisbane Recovery Services Centre – Moonyah (Red Hill) provides an inpatient, medication-assisted withdrawal management/detoxification service for men and women aged 18+. 

Why this role matters  

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

The Role 

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Administration Assistant to support the efficient and effective delivery of administrative services within the Centre.  

This position provides accounting and administrative support to the Business Administration Team Leader, enhancing services across the Centre and contributing to the mission of The Salvation Army. 

You will also assist with relief reception, being the first point of contact when required for stakeholders seeking support—including individuals in distress—and will refer them to appropriate personnel or services as required. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Administration  

  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties, including data entry, general correspondence, processing of accounts payable invoices and reconciliation of accounts, receipting payments 

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, in a professional manner.   

  • Assisting participants who are on program with queries relating to fees, Centrelink, job providers.  

  • Provide professional and friendly phone support, ensuring calls are directed and messages communicated promptly and accurately. 

  • Promote a positive and professional environment for all individuals engaging with the organisation. 

  • Ensure high-quality service delivery and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. 

  • Prepare documentation and complete data entry accurately and within required timeframes. 

  • Maintain accessible, accurate, and well-organised filing systems. 

  • Uphold confidentiality across all aspects of the role. 

  • Provide relief reception support when required. 

  • Apply a solid understanding of TSA policies and procedures relevant to the role. 

  • Assist colleagues as needed, effectively prioritising tasks while maintaining confidentiality. 

 

What You Will Bring 

  • Certificate III or IV in Business (highly regarded). 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. 

  • 2–3+ years of experience as an accounts clerk or similar role, with the ability to work with some autonomy. 

  • Experience within a community or not-for-profit organisation is highly desirable, as is knowledge of Centrelink and job provider procedures. 

  • Commitment to The Salvation Army’s Organisational Code of Conduct, including an alcohol-, gambling-, and drug-free workplace. 

  • At least two years in recovery (if applicable). 

  • A current QLD Driver Licence. 

  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia.
