Adjuster - Transportation and Cargo

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To perform in a support role as defined by the sponsoring department management; to complete non-complex projects assigned; network with apprentices and Sedgwick colleagues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes assigned non-complex projects as defined by the sponsoring department management.
  • Shadows experts who investigate and assemble facts from an insurance perspective.
  • Learns from business line leaders/experts to gain understanding of the insurance and engineering processes in office and in the field.
  • Assists with projects, observe meetings and inspections.
  • Trains on insurance coverages and principles, which may include analysis of loss experience, financial conditions and physical characteristics of risks.
  • Participates in formalized training on the insurance industry, systems, report writing, and presentation planning and skills in order that they can be ready for the final report presentation.
  • Develops and presents capstone project results to the Operating Committee at end of apprentice program.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a diploma or degree program and in good standing at an accredited college or university is required.
  • Business, insurance, accounting, or engineering programs are preferred.
  • Ability to obtain applicable Adjuster Licensing

Experience

  • Prior work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of insurance, claims or business management
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products and Excel, PowerPoint
  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
