Business Area: M&G Global Services

The role offers the opportunity in PAC modelling team which would involve providing support to automation projects for a wide range of Actuarial processes. The technical requirements of each role will vary depending on the team the person is in, and will be reflected in her/his annual objectives. The role would involve carrying out the tasks for the process to meet deliverables with an acceptable standard of quality and within agreed timelines.

The role would cover projects spanning across technology-based actuarial areas like actuarial data and system reviews, finance transformation, automation, results production as well as include short term support to BAU areas like model validation, results production, risk scenario generation etc.

Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)

  • Delivery of high quality agreed project tasks to the stakeholder in a time bound fashion.
  • Prepare and document simple models to clearly defined requirements.
  • Carry out work to an agreed plan, producing deliverables in an agreed timescale
  • Deliver outputs that are clearly defined in an agreed timescale, whilst working within established frameworks and procedures.
  • Apply relatively straightforward checks on data and output to aid analysis and provide feedback to senior team member.
  • Complete end to end testing of models developed to required standards.
  • Maintain an ‘audit trail’ and version control to demonstrate the adequacy of the spreadsheet controls for future enhancements to the product.
  • Draft and maintain up-to-date, appropriate documentation and checklists for any processes that are implemented.

  • Undertake numerical analysis and manipulation using a range of systems and tools (Python, Access, Advance Excel, VBA, Power BI etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

  • Coding/Development experience using latest coding languages and modelling platforms like Python, Power BI, Advance Excel / VBA
  • Experience in independently and effectively testing new tools and processes developed
  • Experience as a team leader or supervisor (handling a team of at least 2 to 3 people)
  • Good written communication skills to be able to produce meaningful documentation of the developments or testing performed
  • Good planning and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal

Knowledge & Skills (Additional) :

  • Good working knowledge to produce Process Maps using Visio or similar tools
  • Resourceful in finding solutions and identifying sources of help and information
  • Flexible approach to responsibilities, working hours, and willing to travel if required
  • Track record of being a fast learner as evidenced by job performance
  • Good team player – the execution stage is crucial to the success of the project and it is essential to be able to contribute fully to the team effort

Experience:

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant work experience using modern technology (Power BI / Python / Advanced Excel)

Educational Qualification:

  • A numerical based degree or Post Graduate qualification
  • Good technical understanding of various tools and techniques used e.g. Python, Power BI, Advance Excel, Visual Basic or any other relevant coding languages
