Reporting to the Head of Actuarial Services, the Senior Director, Actuarial Services will be a key member of the MBPS Actuarial leadership team. This role provides senior leadership across multiple enterprise‑facing functions, including the Actuarial Consulting Group (ACG), Actuarial Development Programs, Business Management, and support in oversight of functional services. The role also serves as a senior technical SME and point of contact for complex and cross‑functional actuarial engagements.
The successful candidate will have a mandate to strengthen MBPS Actuarial’s operating model and advance our strategic vision, elevate governance and performance routines, drive capability building, and support the continued growth of actuarial shared services across Manulife.
Position Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a senior leader within MBPS Actuarial, contributing to strategy, operating model optimization, and execution of enterprise priorities.
- Build strong relationships with global segment and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Provide insight and challenge on actuarial processes, performance trends, and emerging risks; support alignment across global teams.
- Champion operational resilience, risk awareness, and continuous improvement across all supported functions.
2. Leadership & Team Development
- Provide proactive people leadership across a multidisciplinary portfolio, fostering a high‑performance and inclusive culture.
- Lead coaching, performance management, capability development, and succession planning for team members.
- Promote “one‑team” collaboration and enhance connectivity across MBPS and global partners.
3. Actuarial Consulting Group (ACG) Oversight
- Provide oversight to scale the ACG, evolving it into a structured consulting platform with clear service offerings, intake processes, and measurable performance outcomes.
- Partner with enterprise stakeholders to deliver high‑impact project‑based services and support transitions of new or specialized actuarial work to MBPS teams.
- Establish playbooks, knowledge‑sharing routines, and documentation standards to enhance repeatability and consistency.
4. Senior Technical SME / Point‑in‑Charge (PIC)
- Serve as functional PIC for complex or cross‑functional actuarial projects requiring broad technical judgment, stakeholder orchestration, and management communication.
- Occasionally participate in time‑bound strategic technical assignments (including potential billable engagements) where senior expertise is required to de‑risk outcomes.
5. Actuarial Development Programs (ADP)
- Partner with the Actuarial Development Program Manager to oversee the Actuarial Training Program, Rotation Programs, and related initiatives.
- Strengthen and modernize actuarial learning pathways, early‑career development frameworks, and community‑building initiatives.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and universities to support recruitment, branding, and pipeline development for actuarial talent.
6. Business & Strategy Management / Reporting & Governance
- Lead performance reporting routines, synthesizing operational results, identifying trends, and recommending action plans.
- Partner with COEs to drive operational excellence initiatives, KPI frameworks, and governance practices aligned with enterprise standards.
- Oversee planning, portfolio management, and work transition routines across MBPS Actuarial, ensuring transparency and effective stakeholder engagement.
Required Qualifications:
- Fellowship in a recognized international actuarial body with 12+ years of progressive experience.
- Broad technical exposure (valuation, modeling, capital/risk, pricing, audit/controls, or related disciplines).
- Strong leadership skills, with a track record of developing teams and influencing across complex organizations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to translate complex actuarial concepts into clear insights.
- Results‑oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight timelines.
- Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality
- Familiarity with AXIS, RiskIntegrity, data/visualization tools, or similar platforms is an advantage.
- Amenable to work in UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City)
- Amenable to work in a hybrid set-up (3x onsite per week)
- Amenable to work in any assigned shift schedule (depending on business need)
