Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable Manager – North America is responsible for leading and managing all accounts payable functions across the NA region, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of invoices and payments. This role drives standardization, internal controls, and continuous improvement while partnering with cross-functional teams and global finance leadership. The position plays a key role in supporting financial integrity, vendor relationships, and operational efficiency within a high-volume, manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end accounts payable operations across North America, including invoice processing, payment execution, company purchase card management, and vendor management.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of high-volume invoices in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage month-end close activities related to AP, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Manage company purchase card process, including bank uploads, employee expense reports, and employee out-of-pocket.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready processes.

  • Lead and develop the AP team, including hiring, training, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy

  • Collaborate with procurement, operations, and finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve procure-to-pay processes

  • Manage vendor relationships, including issue resolution and payment terms optimization

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations (e.g., sales/use tax, 1099 reporting) and company policies.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to leadership.

  • Partner with global finance teams to align on best practices and standardization efforts.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree.

  • 5-7 years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience, including leadership experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment preferred.

  • Experience managing AP department in a multi-entity, multi-state, or regional environment (North America preferred).

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other business software used for data analysis and reporting.

  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, controls, and best practices.

  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian financial regulations, tax requirements, and compliance standards (e.g., sales/use tax, 1099 reporting).

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and regions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop direct reports in accordance with organizational needs.

  • Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.

  • Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure accountability.

 Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Operates in a professional office environment with standard business equipment and technology.

  • Minimal travel may be required (up to 10%).

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.

  • Ability to work extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end).

$82,757.00 - $150,222.00

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
