Ready to take the lead in a fast-paced, high-impact environment? Service Stream’s Corporate Division is currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Team Lead to join our team.

Reporting to the Manager – Transaction Services, you will take ownership of the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, leading a small, high-performing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in support services, delivering critical financial operations across the group. You will ensure payments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant financial policies and controls.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a complex high volume environment, has a passion for mentoring and developing a team and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team and across the group.

This position is a full time, 12-month fixed term contract role based at our Collins Street office, with hybrid working arrangements available (3 days in the office). Australian citizenship is required.

About the Role

  • Act as the Accounts Payable subject matter expert, leading service delivery across the group
  • Oversee accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments
  • Ensure compliance with internal finance policies, procedures and accounting standards
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Accounts Payable team, supporting performance and capability uplift
  • Monitor and report on AP performance, trends, risks and payment forecasts
  • Manage supplier relationships and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders
  • Drive and support process improvement initiatives across AP and Transaction Services
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity and financial reporting accuracy

Skills, competencies & experience

  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading an Accounts Payable team in a complex, high‑volume environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts payable processes, controls and compliance
  • Proven experience coaching, developing and leading teams
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy and organisational capability
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • SAP financial systems experience is essential
  • Experience in utilities, telecommunications, transport or defence industries is preferred but not essential
