The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for supporting the accounts payable process, including reviewing and processing invoices, purchase orders, and check requests. This role involves assisting with vendor inquiries, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within the finance team.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

  • Support the accounts payable process for designated vendors, including entering invoices into the accounting system and assisting with payment processing (checks or electronic transfers).
  • Maintain accurate records of invoices, purchase orders, and check requests.
  • Assist with preparing basic accounts payable reports and help reconcile vendor statements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies related to purchase orders and vendor payments.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and help resolve discrepancies.
  • Set up new vendors and update vendor information in the system.
  • Assist with periodic review of outstanding invoices to ensure timely payments.
  • Provide support for internal requests and assist with other finance projects as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience in accounts payable or a similar finance support role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is required.

Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic skills in accounting software related to payables, purchase orders, and vendor payments;
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
