Major Duties:

  • NON-APPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Marketing Technician BUSINESS TITLE: Accounts Executive FLSA: Non exempt JOB SERIES: 1101 PAY LEVEL: NF-3 INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the Marketing Branch of Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), Okinawa, Japan. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate marketing requirements between MCCS Marketing and assigned MCCS program and facility managers. This position reports to the Marketing Accounts Manager on status of all advertising campaigns and projects related to MCCS facilities. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Serves as coordinator between MCCS Marketing and MCCS program and facility managers to understand programs, services, and event marketing requirements and convey these to the project working group consisting of but not limited to the Publishing, Graphic Design, Digital Media and Advertising & Sponsorship Departments. Reviews and tracks all assigned Marketing Support Requests. Assists in generating awareness, demand and revenue for activities through effective marketing. Coordinates a variety of communication methods, tools and technology including oral, written, visual, digital and social media to inform target audience(s) about programs, services, events and policies sponsored by or associated with MCCS operations. Assists in communication, production and promotional requirements including developing exhibits, brochures, posters and other public relations activities for the department. Assists with the coordination of MCCS publicity through editorial and advertisement placement, press releases, brochures, posters, outdoor signage, and other media in print, electronic and digital formats. Monitors and contributes to the administration of the MCCS website, social media sites and other media channels. Reviews outgoing marketing collateral and correspondence for proper grammar, format, accuracy, policy compliance, and adherence to branding guidelines. Independently responds to telephone inquiries, email and other business correspondence. Initiates and prepares correspondence including email, letters, memoranda and messages using various software. Maintains official files and periodically disposes of records in accordance with official disposition instructions. Assists by performing various marketing, administrative and other tasks as assigned. Evaluates marketing effectiveness by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends. Processes billing reports which includes monitoring costs by program, verifying totals and coordination with the Installation Finance. Provides World Class Customer Service. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor¿s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field or three (3) years of experience (Valid documentation required.). Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in applying the principles and techniques of strategic marketing planning. Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask while maintaining a positive attitude and an outgoing, sociable and friendly demeanor, in order to interact positively with customers and colleagues on a daily basis. Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to perform data entry and data gathering, create various forms of charts and statistical reports. Experience in using Microsoft SharePoint beneficial. Ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in a professional manner to diverse individuals and groups. Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and problem-solving abilities; a team player and actively looking to provide excellent customer service always. Must be able to work both independently and on a team based on assignments. Experience in writing and editing advertising copy and public speaking is desired. Per DoDI 1400.25, volume 315, Enclosure 3, para 2.h.1, MSP eligibility terminates upon acceptance or refusal of an offer of a continuing position (part-time or full-time) in the federal service for which the spouse has registered for employment, whether or not preference was applied. Applicants hired into flexible positions (0-40 hours per week) or regular position with a time-limited appointment will not lose their spouse preference eligibility until movement or hired into a regular full or part time position. The time period for MSP eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date to the new duty station, if accompanied, or at any time thereafter during the tour. All military and DoD civilian spouses are required to provide a copy of their sponsor's orders during the application process.
