Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in providing financial leadership and support to Business units within Rakuten Asia.
The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles and operations, and a proven ability to challenge the status quo to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations
- Lead and coordinate closing activities within the accounting team and business units.
- Review accounting transactions and schedules prepared by accounting specialists, ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
- Perform month-end closing operation and preparation of accounting schedules.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, and provide commentaries.
- Prepare reporting packages for HQ and business units.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Statutory filing including annual audit, GST and WHT filing.
Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members, ensuring smooth accounting operations
- Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including business unit leaders, HQ accounting team member, tax team and HR team etc.
- Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborate with various business units to develop a deep understanding of their operations, challenges, and opportunities.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Lead or participate in projects to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging technologies in finance and accounting.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance operations.
- Flexible and proactive, able to take on a mix of complex responsibilities and smaller operational tasks.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and best practices.
- Experience with accounting and reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Stravis).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with senior management, team members and various stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
