The Position

 The Record to Report (R2R) Department is a global organization of over 650 experienced finance professionals working together to deliver financial services and solutions for Roche across the EMEA region. Our services cover financial management, period-end closing, capital and lease accounting, credit and receivables, manufacturing finance, and divisional reporting, ensuring compliance for 263 reporting entities in 96 countries with accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and providing assurance of financial integrity.

The opportunity

As a Country Chief Accountant and IFRS Accounting Expert in Budapest, you act as the local authority for all accounting matters within Roche Services & Solutions (RSS). You ensure up-to-date accounting expertise, high-quality processes, and serve as the main point of contact for accounting topics. You collaborate with RSS EMEA Finance teams and Global Finance groups to ensure accurate financial data, while coordinating and executing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings in full compliance with IFRS and internal requirements.

  • Acting as a member of the Global Accounting Experts team, clarifying policy updates and supporting RSS teams with complex accounting consultations

  • Providing IFRS expertise, monitoring standard developments, assessing impacts, and ensuring correct adoption of Group Finance interpretations

  • Conducting training needs assessments and delivering Financial Reporting / Accounting Policy trainings

  • Serving as Country Chief Accountant, ensuring accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities

  • Ensuring financial accuracy and internal control compliance, including ICFR documentation and tools (INVOLVE, BWISE)

  • Managing IFRS 16 Leasing matters and approving relevant journal entries

  • Maintained accountability for the lifecycle of AR, AP, and Treasury operations, encompassing billing approvals, vendor invoice verification, cash flow monitoring, FX, and banking transactions

  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, resolving anomalies, and overseeing reporting package submissions (e.g., Sustainability, Insurance)

  • Supporting audits, compliance reviews, and promoting continuous improvement in accounting practices

  • Serving as main financial contact for FM and RSS EMEA teams, addressing queries and providing advisory support

Who you are:

  • University education; preferably in Finance/Accounting related discipline

  • Minimum 14 years of relevant Finance and Accounting/Audit experience; Big Four Accounting Firm background (KPMG, PWC, Deloitte or E&Y) preferred.

  • CPA/CA/ACCA country qualification is highly preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices (IFRS); financial reporting, audit, and taxation, including local accounting principles as advantage

  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably SAP and MS Office

  • Demonstrated traits: meticulous, independent, proactive, and able to meet tight deadlines

  • Proven track record in relationship and stakeholder management across diverse groups, with strong influencing skills

  • Proficiency in English
