The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant for the TC Energy USPL Property Accounting team will have the opportunity to work on a variety of project and fixed asset duties with regulated midstream natural gas pipelines in a highly focused team environment. While primarily providing accounting support to regulatory related activities, they will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented people and make a valuable contribution to the organization.
This position within U.S. Pipelines Property Accounting will report to the Accounting Manager.
What you’ll do
Primary responsibilities will be the preparation of assigned rate case cost of service schedules and prepare responses to subsequent data requests
Perform routine accounting responsibilities for TC Energy’s midstream regulated assets, working with other team members and team leads in performing preparation of quarterly and annual FERC filings (Quarterly 3Q preparation for assigned pages, Annual Form No. 2 and 2a preparation for assigned pages, other regulatory filings required as needed)
Participate in the TC Energy budgeting forecast process by providing key data to the US Planning and Cost Accounting group
Prepare monthly recurring journal and adjusting FERC ledger entries
Prepare quarterly reconciliations and ensure items identified in the reconciliation are resolved/corrected in a timely manner
Provide key information to the Income and Property Tax Group
Respond to audit requests from external auditors and Internal Audit
Identify and execute process improvements
Participate in various job duties/responsibilities and special projects as directed by the leader or determined on own initiative such as perform accounting back up duties
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, and policies, specifically FERC regulations
Proficient use of Excel and Word
Knowledge of SAP accounting software, PowerPlan fixed asset software and Workiva
Preferred Qualifications
CPA License
FERC reporting experience
Self-motivated with a strong analytical skill set willing to learn and tackle new challenges on an ongoing basis
Possess clear communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and make decisions and recommendations within established accounting procedures
