Position Overview:
The Accountant, Accounting APAC (further ‘Accountant’) will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting APAC and will assist in managing the accounting entries, documents, payment information and recording other financial transactions for both group reporting purposes and local statutory reporting.
The Accountant will be tasked with managing financial operations in the region, currently covering Malaysia, Singapore, China and Australia. Work closely with accounting and finance teams in a fast-paced public company to execute on financial operational initiatives, monthly financial reporting and internal control compliance and related activities.
In this high-growth and fast paced environment continuous development of the processes and systems is crucial. The successful candidate for this role should preferably have a track record of having identified and implemented process and systems improvements. As such, the Accountant should provide a thorough understanding of ERP and SAP systems, preferably experience in SAP S4/Hana.
Responsibilities:
Support the execution of the monthly financial close process including creation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Assist in the review of monthly US GAAP results and preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting to US Parent in relation to the 10Q/K consolidated reporting.
Support the quality and timeliness of internal control requirements associated with general ledger reporting, including SOX404.
Support the team in working with external advisors in the preparation and audits of statutory financial statements and supporting notes as well as support the tax team in view of the preparation of corporate tax computations, returns, and ad hoc tax requests.
Continue monitoring Malaysian e-Invoicing requirements and compliance and provide support for Singapore and China as well as others region once enforcement is implemented.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in Finance & Accounting.
In possession of a professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA) or similar certification preferred.
2 to 6 years related accounting experience in a fast-growing environment, preferably in a publicly listed company.
Experience with manufacturing accounting is a plus.
Solid accounting knowledge, with a strong knowledge of international accounting and auditing standards, such as US GAAP, IFRS and Sarbanes Oxley legislation.
Deadline driven with highest possible accuracy.
Strong experience working in ERP systems, with SAP as preferred.
Prior experience in auditing is considered an advantage.
Prior experience working with foreign currencies is a plus.
Preferably a track record of continuous development of processes and systems.
