The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and detail‑driven Accountant to join our Group Finance team based in South Melbourne. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting effective accounting processes across multiple entities within the Group.
This position suits an accountant with hands‑on experience in month‑end reporting, reconciliations, and multi‑entity environments, who is comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with Finance Managers and shared services teams. The role offers ongoing learning, exposure to complex group accounting, and opportunities to contribute to system and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports, including month‑end journals, finance packs, accounts receivable invoicing, cash flow statements, and variance analysis
Maintain general ledger accuracy through reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, asset finance schedules, payroll and wage journals, and routine group recharge journals
Review and approve bank reconciliations and journals prepared by the Accounts Payable team, ensuring compliance with internal controls and company policies
Perform system reconciliations and analysis across SAP and other financial systems, supporting audit requirements and financial integrity
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and provide ad‑hoc accounting support across the Group
Required Skills and Competencies
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent), with strong foundational knowledge of financial and management accounting
Bring practical experience in month‑end reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and multi‑entity accounting, ideally within a corporate or group environment
Have exposure to ERP systems (such as SAP) and strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyse data and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with finance and operational stakeholders
