An Account Technician position is available with The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Transportation Management Division – Parking Services. The Transportation Management division is responsible for improving, operating, and maintaining various components of the City’s Transportation System. This position will be responsible for the financial and customer service duties of Parking Services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in accounting, finance or related field
  • One (1) year of directly related technical accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with City of Fort Worth financial systems and processes
  • Experience in processing accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification and PO matching
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including managing spreadsheets, using formulas, and performing basic data analysis

The Account Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Provide financial support to Parking Services by processing financial transactions, maintaining spreadsheets and databases, and ensuring accuracy of data entered into City systems.
  • Monitor and reconcile revenues and expenditures for meters, garages, permits, and contracts, identifying discrepancies for follow-up.
  • Respond to requests for financial information from staff, vendors, and other departments by gathering supporting documents and preparing clear summaries.
  • Perform assigned accounts payable duties, including verifying invoices, matching to purchase orders/contracts, coding transactions, and routing for approval in accordance with City Administrative Regulations.
  • Maintain and update purchase order and invoice tracking tools to ensure timely payment and compliance with contract and budget requirements.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and reporting by compiling data and supporting variance or trend analysis.
  • Participate in audits, special projects, and process improvement activities related to Parking Services financial operations.

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
