Macquarie University is recruiting an Academic Success Manager to join the dynamic Academic Success team within the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Education. Student success is a critical endeavour of the University.

In this role, you will lead the Academic Success team, and the design and delivery of programs, services and initiatives that empower coursework students' academic success. This includes leading and design and operationalisation of the service delivery model which includes embedding academic, digital and professional literacies in units and courses with academic staff, and delivering concurrent support programs to students, especially those most at risk. You will have experience working directly with academic subject matter experts and central support services. 

You are committed to research-informed design and best practice in inclusive program delivery. Your expertise and experience allow you to lead academic, digital, and professional literacies programs to maximise student success at scale. High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to think strategically and creatively, allow you to respond proactively to faculty-specific needs and priorities. Equally, your positive and flexible approach to unexpected or changing circumstances enables you to support both colleagues and stakeholders thoughtfully and effectively.

About Us  

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and is the member of the University Executive with overall responsibility for the planning, quality and delivery of education provided to Macquarie's undergraduate and graduate students.  

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) is responsible for the University’s educational endeavour across all aspects of the educational lifecycle, including pathways and access, curriculum and educational capability development, educational outcomes and graduate success, as well as the Macquarie University College.  The PVCE provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies and programs to support the University’s education mission.

  • Postgraduate qualification (preferably a PhD) in education, academic literacies, student success or a related field  

  • Sustained relevant experience in leading teams who support student success though the provision of curricular and co-curricular services and programs that develop academic, professional and digital literacies.

  • Demonstrated capability to conceptualise and operationalise the end-to-end delivery of embedded curricular and co-curricular programs in partnership with faculty academics and other relevant stakeholders such as Wellbeing, Library, central support service teams.  

  • Sustained and impactful experience in building the capacity of academic and teaching staff in embedding literacies that lead to student academic success.

  • Knowledge of the higher education sector, particularly legislative and regulatory requirements relating to academic success and support for students, and knowledge of best practice regarding the innovation and optimisation of these endeavours.  

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, including the proficiency to evaluate program effectiveness and undertake continuous quality improvement activities to uplift student outcomes.  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the aptitude to advise and influence key faculty stakeholders and achieve buy-in for academic success programs.  

  • Demonstrated capability to manage staff and stakeholders in an exemplary professional, collaborative, and innovative team environment.
