2026 Summer Intern - Enzyme Technologies Chapter
We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.
Department Summary
The Enzyme and Protein Engineering (EPE) team is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team with a primary focus on experimental protein science, computational protein analysis, and post-translational modifications (PTMs). This position offers hands-on laboratory experience in protein characterization and analytical techniques, combined with computational modeling and in-silico protein design. The successful candidate will work at the bench performing protein analytics, support enzyme engineering through computational predictions and molecular dynamics simulations, and contribute to the organization and automation of experimental data, helping to bridge laboratory science with computational analysis and data management systems.
This internship position is located in Santa Clara, California, on-site.
The Opportunity
Protein engineering & analytics tasked to assist with the design, expression, and purification of recombinant proteins - ELISA/SDS-PAGE/HPLC/Western Blot Etc.
Investigations of post-translational modifications such as glycosylation, phosphorylation, acetylation, and Ubiquitination using fluorescence based and MassSpec based assays
Protein In-Silico & Computational Modeling, assist with rational protein structure predictions utilizing molecular dynamic simulations and protein language models (GROMACS/ProtBERT)
Assist in developing tools for high-throughput data extraction, transformation, and storage
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
