As a Finance Data Scientist Intern, you won’t just observe — you’ll actively shape how financial data is validated, governed, and transformed into powerful business insights inside a SOX-controlled enterprise environment.
You’ll gain hands-on experience with industry-leading systems like Oracle Fusion, Workday, and Salesforce, while working alongside Finance Systems, Accounting, IT, and Business Operations leaders. This role blends financial acumen, data science, enterprise technology, and compliance — a rare opportunity to build a uniquely powerful skill set.
Position Responsibilities
Financial Intelligence & Reporting
Help prepare and validate core financial reporting (GL, P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Analyze financial data flows across ERP systems.
Support journal entry validation and reconciliation processes.
Assist in preparing audit-ready documentation within a SOX 404 framework.
Contribute to real internal and external audit cycles.
Data Integration & System Validation
Support data validation across enterprise platforms (ERP, HRIS, CRM).
Assist in reconciliation testing between legacy and modern systems.
Perform data quality assessments across subledgers and consolidated reports.
Contribute to ERP migration and transformation initiatives.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
Help monitor automated financial controls and exception reporting.
Document reporting workflows and internal control frameworks.
Collaborate with IT and Internal Audit to strengthen reporting integrity.
Learn how financial compliance operates in a public-company environment.
Analytics & Business Insights
Build interactive dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or Oracle Analytics.
Perform variance analysis and investigate data anomalies.
Support scenario modeling and forecasting exercises.
Translate financial data into strategic insights for leadership.
Cross-Functional Impact
Partner with Finance, HR, Sales, and Operations to streamline reporting.
Support automation initiatives across ERP, HRIS, and CRM ecosystems.
Contribute to initiatives that improve enterprise data governance.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Comfortable working with SQL and/or Python (class projects absolutely count!).
Familiar with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Curious about how enterprise systems power financial decision-making.
Detail-oriented and analytical, with strong problem-solving instincts.
Interested in internal controls, audit, and how companies ensure financial integrity.
Strong communicator who can explain insights clearly and professionally.
