2026 Summer Data Scientist Intern

Day in Your Life at MKS: 

As a Data Scientist intern at MKS, you will partner with Quality Team, Finance Team, and IT Team to develop a database systems which would automate metrics used by the Quality Team and Finance Team.  Moreover, you will help migrate the Quality team's current process to another database system.  In this role, you will report to the Director, Quality & Reliability Engineering, Lasers. 

Intern/Co-op Term: This is a (duration) internship/co-op from (May 18, 2026) to (August 14. 2026). Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the assignment.

You Will Make an Impact By: 

  • Working with IT and Finance to create a data architecture which connects information from shipping, operations, quality, and manufacturing  
  • Collaborating with the Quality Team and IT to create a data architecture that would re-create the data flows in SmartSheet to another tool and migrate the Smartsheet information in another tool 

Skills You Bring: 

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering) or relevant majors. 

  • Proficiency or understanding in Python, programming languages, MS Excel, PowerBI, Smartsheet, SQL, SharePoint, Tableau, etc.   

  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company.

Preferred Skills:

  • Database management

  • SAP 

You will make an Impact by:

  • Lead the project to migrate information from Tableau to PowerBI.
  • Assist the Milpitas Quality group in process automation and improvement projects.
  • Fulfill tasks assigned by the Quality Director.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $40.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.
