About this opportunity

Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company​. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.

Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required.

This New Grad opportunity will likely include the following teams:

  • Commercial Support
  • Logistics
  • Data Analytics/Market Analytics & Fundamentals

The specific rotation will depend on operational need and the selected candidate’s profile.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities may include:

Commercial Support

  • Support ETRM system, various tools, and business processes used by front, middle, and back-office departments, to market, move, settle, and account for the purchase and sales of refined products
  • Proactively monitor system functions, tasks, interfaces, data integrity, etc.
  • Research and resolve issues with deals/contacts, pricing, invoicing, accounts payable, master data, interfaces, etc.
  • Solution new business activity in existing tools and systems
  • Gather, refine, and develop business requirements of current and future tools and systems
  • Partner with IT on technical solutions
  • Liaise with software vendors regarding functionality, enhancements, roadmaps, etc.
  • Liaise with project teams providing technical support, data requirements, business processes, etc.
  • Provide data/reporting for audit requests
  • Perform testing, provide training, and create documentation for business processes, tools, and system

Logistics

  • Act as the primary interface for both Cenovus personnel and customers, carriers, terminals and other modes of logistics in which Cenovus transports products
  • Deliver reliable supply while at the same time minimizing working capital, maximizing commercial value and identifying optimization opportunities
  • Provide support to Manufacturing, Trading and Marketing groups by determining daily physical inventory positions and supply forecast
  • Nominate volumes for shipments to domestic pipelines and terminals that correspond with the Commercial Group’s trading and marketing strategies, and steward daily execution of the supply plan
  • Using in-depth knowledge of contracts, work closely with larger team to assess the various ways to optimize transportation and storage assets
  • Understand, track, and notify coordinating teams of any and all supply cuts/increases and logistics outages, and assess impact
  • Utilize strong operational knowledge while being on-call 24/7 to manage any impacts related to operational upsets of transportation and storage assets
  • Demonstrate commercial knowledge and ability to effectively influence others, making critical and timely decisions that mitigate supply disruptions
  • Manage interconnects between transport modes to ensure safe and timely handoff to/from pipeline, rail, truck and marine
  • Assist with reconciliation of inventory volumes with mid and back-office functions
  • Perform daily actualization of product movements in RightAngle ETRM system

Market Analytics & Fundamentals

  • Develop and maintain standard reports, ensuring timely and accurate responses to ad hoc data requests
  • Enhance performance reporting for marketing, trading, and scheduling teams, improving data accessibility and actionable insights
  • Automate report generation and data delivery, streamlining communication with key stakeholders and improving operational efficiency
  • Support economic, pricing, and forecasting functions by providing data-driven analysis to optimize decision-making processes
  • Conduct in-depth market studies and analysis, identifying key trends and opportunities to inform business strategy
  • Perform statistical analyses to provide valuable insights into business activities, supporting strategic planning and performance evaluation
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, data models, and data visualizations in Power BI and R programming language used for forward inferences and strategy formulation by Traders and Senior Management
  • Develop and maintain market analytics tools and libraries used to forecast forward supply and demand balances for refined products
  • Work as part of the cross-regional fundamentals and strategy team, effectively communicating prioritized business needs and prioritized project statuses

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.  
  • Available to begin work June 2026
  • Very strong problem-solving skills
  • Very proficient working with data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint)
  • Working knowledge of SQL or other query/reporting language
  • High attention to detail, handles ambiguity well, thrives on a team
  • Must have an undergraduate Business (Finance, Data Analytics, and/or Logistics preferred) or Engineering (Chemical and Computer Science preferred) program degree obtained by May 31, 2026 and completed within the last 2 years (2024 or 2025).
