Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This role is critical in enabling successful supplier technical oversite, engagement, and onsite technical support at multiple supplier locations throughout greater Los Angeles area. This position requires being in the Los Angeles area.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector in the Global Supply Chain organization.

Supplier Technical Execution (STE) org is a technical group made up of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers that work directly with and between program IPT/engineering and suppliers to proactively resolve design, producibility and technical acquisition topics. Made up of the SME-Operations team and the Manufacturing Field Engineering team (MFE). Looking to hire interns to learn about our organization and work firsthand with our engineering team supporting aerospace production programs at the supplier and program level.

This position will work directly with SME Ops and MFE engineers supporting various sector programs and their supply base. The day-to-day task may include the following.

  • Reviewing engineering: Parts lists, CAD (Catia V5), Drawings

  • Supporting suppliers via Teams Meetings or onsite with a STE engineer to review manufacturing process or address production issues.

  • Support supplier tooling needs via Teams meetings or onsite with a STE engineer.

  • Generate weekly progress reports of tasks or notables to be shared with a STE engineer

  • Learn about and possibly complete specific Tasks performed by the STE org :

    • RCI – Request for Change/Information

    • PAR – Post Award Review

    • CRA – Capacity Risk Assessment

    • ABLE Code – Automated Bid List creation/review

    • Technical Evaluation – of production Hours for “Fair and Reasonable”

    • TDP – Technical Data Package creation for RFP

    • Export Compliance support – JC/HTS

  • Support Weekly IPT calls with suppliers

  • Learn the interactions between various NGC stake holders within and outside of GSC

  • Support and visit various NGC Production/Assembly sites as required

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026.

  • Be majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM degree.

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.

  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

  • Reliable transportation

Intern Pay Range

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $20.50 to $38.00 per hour

  • Master’s: $29.75 to $46.75 per hour
