Business Banking Default Servicing – About the Team
The Business Banking Default Servicing team plays a critical role within CAM, serving as the operational backbone that keeps multiple processes running smoothly and in compliance. As the “glue” connecting several departments, this team ensures seamless coordination across collections, workout, legal, and portfolio analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Data Entry & Maintenance: Managing high volumes of data with accuracy and consistency to ensure systems and records remain up to date.
- Compliance Coordination: Monitoring workflows and tasks to ensure teams remain compliant with regulatory, procedural, and internal requirements.
- Cross-Department Facilitation: Acting as the link between collections, workout, legal, and portfolio analysis to support timely decisions and efficient case movement.
- Analysis & Task Management: Supporting ongoing analysis, tracking, maintenance, and transaction processing across accounts.
- Process Support & Transfers: Handling account transfers, updates, and operational activities that keep the broader default servicing process functioning effectively.
This team is essential to maintaining structure, continuity, and clarity across the default servicing lifecycle. Their work ensures that all partner teams have what they need to support customers and protect the bank—making Business Banking Default Servicing a foundational part of CAM’s mission.
What the Intern Will Do:
The intern will support the Business Banking Default Servicing team by:
- Building and organizing digital folders and pulling required documents.
- Pulling bankruptcy information through PACER and completing SCRA searches to verify active‑duty military status.
- Conducting basic research to support account reviews.
- Completing data entry and helping with day‑to‑day operational tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
- Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations.
