2026 CFO, Data Governance Summer Analyst (4 Months)

Job Description

The Data Governance Co-op Student will support RBC’s data management, quality and governance initiatives. This role involves assisting with documentation, analysis and implementation of data standards and processes to ensure RBC’s Financial data is accurate, secure and well-managed across the organization.

You will be responsible in supporting requirement activities on small enhancements. The role is responsible to assist in the following aspects of requirements delivery – analysis and documentation, management and requirements support – for changes to Business Areas and Technology.

What will you do?

As a Data Governance Analyst, your responsibilities on the team will include:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating data governance documentation, including data dictionaries, glossaries and metadata inventories.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements for data processes and standards.
  • Contribute to the mapping of data flows and understanding of how data moves between systems.
  • Participate in data governance meetings and provide administrative support such as note-taking and preparing materials.
  • Generate reports and summaries to communicate data governance activities and progress to stakeholders.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Excel; familiarity with SQL.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge and an understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Ability to work with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Basic understanding of data management concepts (e.g. data quality, metadata, data stewardship).
