Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating the activities of the rental yard to process equipment for shipments and returns.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Reviews bills of lading for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to plan work activities.
Reads work orders/shipping orders and follows verbal instructions to locate product in warehouse/rental yard.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from trucks, pallets, trays, shelves, and racks by hand and with forklift.
Loads material into vehicles and prepares with strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Loads and unloads trucks and ensures trucks are correctly loaded by material handlers.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to material or marks information on cases, bundles, or other packaging containers.
Stacks and assembles material and equipment into bundles and uses banding, skids, and containers appropriately.
Uses safe material handling procedures when lifting or moving equipment and material or when directing movement.
Maintains a strong housekeeping program by cleaning products, materials, and equipment to keep work area free of debris.
Inspects and preparers products, equipment and hardware for re-stocking and re-rental by cleaning, and repairing to standard.
Oversees operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of products, and maintenance of the warehouse and rental inventory.
Maintains accurate inventory counts and location status of inventory; conducts cycle counts to audit the accuracy of records.
May use form cleaning machinery and/or power and hand tools in renovating/cleaning forms as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior level associates.
Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior level associates.
Work Environment
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Must be a trained and qualified forklift operator, with a current/valid license.
Must have good PC skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Must have the ability to read, write, and understand English.
Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, fractions, decimals and counting.
Ability to read, understand, communicate, and use all safety operating procedures and equipment and solve moderate to complex problems independently.
Ability to operate air tools and hand tools; and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
