Preferred Qualifications
Job Summary
Operates a switcher truck to move tractor trailers around the distribution center yard, including backing up trailers to loading docks, performing safety checks to secure trailers, opening bay doors, and assisting dock workers with loading and unloading inventory. This position requires operation of a company or rental vehicle, and this operation may be done during the average work week. If selected for this position, the company will continuously monitor Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs). A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR status and a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with hazardous materials endorsement.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Transports trailers within a distribution center, including moving trailers between shipping and receiving docks.
Performs applicable equipment inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal procedures.
Couples and uncouples tractor trailer units, including connecting and disconnecting brake lines as needed.
Moves and organizes line haul trailers in the shipping yard to ensure the efficient movement of inventory.
Ensures trailers are ready for loading, unloading, and transport.
Documents all trailer moves within the shipping yard.
Refuels switcher truck when needed.
