Are you a health and wellness professional who wants to positively impact Maricopa County’s employees' health and wellness?
Maricopa County’s Benefits and Wellness Division is seeking a highly self-motivated wellness professional to develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive health and wellness programming so Maricopa County employees can maintain or improve their health and well-being.
As the Worksite Wellness Specialist, you will be expected to be a self-starter with strong organizational, written, and public speaking skills, and can manage multiple projects and deadlines. You must be passionate about wellness and be effective in collaborating with various people at different levels in the organization.

We Require
One year of experience developing, coordinating, and implementing health, nutrition, and worksite/employee wellness programs and educational material
Bachelor’s degree in Health Education/Promotion, Exercise and Wellness, or another wellness-related field
We Also Value
Current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or ability to get certified within 6 months of hire
Experience writing and/or creating health education content for educational materials
Experience speaking in public
Experience with virtual video conferencing and webinar systems like Microsoft Teams and GoTo Webinar
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
Job Contributions
Creates and facilitates in-person and virtual wellness-related training for County employees and departments
Helps develop, coordinate, communicate, and implement wellness campaigns, including the Wellness Incentive Program, flu shot campaign, onsite health screenings, and other events
Develop content for the County Wellness Works website, monthly wellness activities, newsletters, and other forms of communication
Keeps up with global health and wellness initiatives and laws to make sure best practices are being implemented and that all programs, initiatives, and partnerships are aligned with County policies
Maintains accurate records, data, and documentation, and assures storage and delivery of information is HIPAA compliant
Partners with department Wellness Champions to ensure departments receive wellness-related information and updates
Manages and maintains Wellness Champion SharePoint site
Analyzes aggregated wellness data and presents it to Wellness Champions, directors, and managers
Makes recommendations to improve overall wellness and worksite culture
Develops and implements programs and initiatives that result in positive lifestyle changes
Assists with managing the County fitness centers and group exercise schedules
Ensures the facilities are clean, equipment is working, and employees are following fitness center rules
Processes fitness center applications daily so employees can have access to the fitness center(s)
Working Conditions
Work primarily occurs in an office environment with occasional travel (approximately 5%) to County worksites
Position is hybrid, typically with two days in the office, three days from home, but will be required to come into the office more often during on-site events
Typical work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with approximately 15 early mornings (arrival at approximately 5:00 AM) each year for County Wellness events
Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire
Must be flexible with work schedule if needed
Must be able to lift 30 lbs and walk at least one mile at events approximately three times per year
