Reporting into the UKI IG Workshop Planning Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will lead operations within the Customer Engineering Workshop in Worcester. The role focuses on the refurbishment, modification, and testing of cryogenic equipment required for Air Products Customer Installation and Exchange jobs, ensuring timely dispatch in accordance with delivery dates set in SAP. The incumbent will supervise the workshop team, set priorities, allocate manpower flexibly, and drive productivity to meet KPIs critical to organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervision of the Workshop Team
Ensure safe operation of day-to-day workshop activities.
Supervise technicians and contractors, managing holidays and schedules.
Support onboarding and training for new starters, maintaining training profiles.
2. Safety & BSP Engagement
Attend Level II Sequential Safety Meetings.
Complete BSP daily and monthly tasks.
Maintain housekeeping standards in refurbishment and prepped equipment areas.
3. Equipment Preparation & Resource Management
Allocate resources to weekly work schedules.
Source appropriate equipment for refurbishment, maintain kanbans, and ensure availability by customer install dates.
Manage serialized equipment allocation and SAP updates.
Liaise with Planning, Technical Coordination, Project Engineers, Commercial, and CSD teams to progress work orders.
Oversee paperwork, prep sheets, and pick lists.
Supervise accurate preparation of cryogenic equipment, vessels, and pipelines up to 3000L per Volume 16 requirements.
Undertake testing and refurbishment of safety-critical components on pressure vessels.
Complete fabrication, soldering, and brazing of pressure control modules and components.
Ensure timely picking of parts and replenishment of workbench Kanbans.
4. Operational & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to S&OP Supply Meetings to optimize asset utilization.
Request serialized equipment setup in SAP for new assets.
Review KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
Manage returns/complaints processes and analyze failure modes.
Participate in Continuous Improvement events.
Facilitate completion of workshop PM tasks as planned in SAP.
Provide feedback for product development and support trials.
Supervise contractor activities under safety work permits per AP procedures.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Logical problem-solving capability.
Forklift Truck License (preferred).
MEWP License (preferred).
Overhead Cranage Operation License (preferred).
Basic engineering experience in machining, pipework, fitting, pneumatics, fabrication, welding, soldering, and brazing.
Basic understanding of pressure vessels and associated components (safety devices, regulators, valves).
Basic electrical knowledge.
