About the role:

You, as Workshop Foreman will oversee the workshop team with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of the Avis Budget Group motor vehicles, ensuring they are completed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, and to the company standards within all appropriate laws and regulations while maintaining a safe environment.

You will perform duties and provide services which reflect the Company’s values. Essential duties and responsibilities, shown below, will vary accordingly based on the location, team size, brand and any specialised or specific requirements.

Duties and responsibilities would include:

Workshop

Working with the Service Manager you will assist in the running of the Queenstown Apex and Avis Workshop, driving productivity, maintaining control of vehicle workshop and yard making sure tasks are completed by teams and yard drivers to the quality required before returning vehicles to the fleet.

You will ensure all services of vehicles are in line with manufacturers' specifications and company standards, including supervising minor repairs and preventative maintenance checks on fleet vehicles (e.g., replacing fluids, changing oil/air filter, tyres, brakes etc.).

Make sure all lease and hand back vehicles inspections and organising repairs that are required on these vehicles and liaising with Fleet Department.

Liaising with both the Apex and Avis Budget Branch Managers and any external sublet repairers, and coordinating repairs to ensure minimal downtime.

Working efficiently and effectively in a team environment to maintain a culture of service excellence and accomplishing organisational goals under limited supervision.

General Workshop Admin

You will control the warranty and service bookings with dealers, including the follow up and return of these vehicles. Also ordering parts for workshop stock and vehicle repairs and controlling the amount of stock carried to ensure there is no obsolete stock being held unnecessarily.

Answering phone enquiries and providing breakdown assistance and response when necessary. Dealing professionally with clients while carrying out duties.

You will ensure workshop Repair Orders and Purchase Orders are completed correctly and efficiently.

Keeping accurate and on-time job records and recording of servicing history in our in-house computer systems (Wizard, Respex and the VMA).

Assisting in administrative duties and tasks in relation to the maintenance and damage of the fleet, for all Brands.

People

Internal training and supervision of workshop and yard staff. You will also oversee and assist with advice to mechanics in the workshop on repairs specifically about diagnosing complex faults.

Health and Safety

Ensuring OH&S safety standards are followed and adhered in the workshop and yard areas.

Conducting work in a safe manner, complying with Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental policies, procedures and being familiar with emergency evacuation procedures to eliminate or minimise workplace health and safety risks.

All PPE is provided and used when required in the workshop.

What we are looking for:

  • Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics (minimum Level 4)

  • A Full Drivers’ license is required (including ability to drive manual vehicles)

  • Experience within the car rental industry (preferred not required)

  • Previous experience in supervisory or leadership role with sound coaching and mentoring skills

  • Demonstrated understanding and use of Customer Service and Sales techniques and processes

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Knowledge of OSH&E legislation

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

  • Sound computer skills

We are looking for someone who can work:

Monday: 7.30 am - 4.00 pm

Tuesday: 7.30 am - 4.00 pm

Wednesday: 7.30 am - 4.00 pm

Thursday: 7.30 am - 4.00 pm

Friday: 7.30 am - 4.00 pm
