Service Stream are on the hunt for a new Works Monitoring Officer to join us in our Clayton location in the new year!

About the Role

Service Stream has been awarded the Metropolitan Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC) - South Central Region by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) Victoria. We are now delivering routine maintenance and defect rectification works, as well as refurbishment and upgrade projects, under a major long-term contract with the Victorian Government.

Reporting to Network Intelligence Operations Manager, the Works Monitoring Officer supports safe, compliant and efficient completion of all VRMC Works. A committed team player who drives for service excellence and continuous improvement, the Works Monitoring Officer will be based in our Network Intelligence & Operations Centre (NIOC) in Clayton. This position works on a weekly rotating roster between the Works Monitoring Officers from 6am to 2pm, 8am to 4pm and 10am to 6pm.

The Work Monitoring Officer role is a dynamic opportunity to take ownership and shape a high-performing team, driving safe, compliant, and efficient road maintenance works across Victoria. In this fast-paced, KPI-driven environment, your problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure will be crucial to delivering results. With a strong focus on accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence, you’ll play a key role in building processes that set the foundation for long-term success while making decisions that truly matter. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and manage works in real-time to keep crews safe and communities moving.
  • Coordinate responses to incidents and emergencies, working closely with the DTP Traffic Management Centre.
  • Apply jeopardy management principles to keep projects on track and compliant with Section 750PB and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with inspectors, supervisors, subcontractors, and field crews to resolve issues quickly.
  • Produce accurate reports and use data insights to improve performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement and help shape future processes for success.

About You:

  • Self-driven, accountable, and thrive on delivering results
  • Experience in operations, project coordination, or high-volume works in road maintenance, civil construction, or logistics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a KPI-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of traffic management, jeopardy management, and end-to-end work order processes.
  • Proficiency in reporting, data analysis, and Excel, with experience using works management systems and GIS tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with Section 750PB requirements and VRMC operations (highly regarded).
  • Formal qualifications in civil construction, logistics, or customer service are a bonus, but not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent capability.
