We’re a company of ambitious, collaborative, problem-solvers who get things done. We strive to make sure everyone that works for us feel seen, heard, and valued – so we’re looking for like-minded people to join us. We support colleagues to bring their whole selves to work and be part of our Inclusion and Diversity communities.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

We’re looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take up a leadership role in our Workplace department, our leading strategic channel for workplace pensions. You’ll oversee 4-6 team managers and up to 80 administrative colleagues as you drive a market leading customer experience.

We’ll expect you to continually monitor performance, engage and empower your people to embed strong governance across your teams. You’ll be all over your resource vs demand planning and underpin your decision making with insightful MI, while taking ownership for regulatory and risk management across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage workplace operations to deliver a market-leading customer experience, ensuring compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Drive team performance and engagement, managing 4–6 Team Managers and approximately 60–80 associates, with accountability for coaching, development, and succession planning.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and cost control by continuously reviewing processes to improve productivity and reduce unit costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Oversee risk management activities, including ownership of incidents, implementing controls, and ensuring compliance with AML, CASS, SOx, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and forecast resources, manage budgets, and provide accurate reporting and MI to support business decisions and operational governance.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, acting as the point of contact for escalated queries and representing Workplace in client meetings and pitches.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with proven ability to motivate and develop large teams.
  • Expertise in operational management and relationship building within financial services, including compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to engage senior stakeholders and drive change.
  • Solid understanding of workplace and platform propositions, regulatory requirements, and operational risk principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering operational improvements, managing complex environments, and leading change initiatives.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capability with a continuous improvement mindset (Lean Six Sigma desirable).

What’s in it for you?

  • We’re serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place.  We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we’ll put in 9%.  If you decide to contribute more, we’ll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that’s 7% from you and 13% from us).
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
  • 36 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.  To find out more about what to expect at Aegon, visit our careers site.
